This week brings to campus a random acts of kindness challenge, Leadership Week events, a ninja warrior course challenge, an information science career and internship fair and more.

Monday, Feb. 17

1,100: A Call to Action and Awareness 

 

Leadership Week: Feb. 17–21

Build leadership skills at various events this week. You’ll learn about how to share your leadership experience on your resume, increase your emotional intelligence and more.

 8 a.m.–4 p.m.  Farrand Field
Stop by Farrand Field for a powerful visual display honoring the 1,100 college students lost to suicide each year across the U.S. and encouraging open conversations about mental health. 

One-Stop-Shop for Resumes & Headshots: Prep for the CMCI Career Fair

 11 a.m.–3 p.m.  C4C S440 
Calling all CMCI students! Before the CMCI Career & Internships Fair (Feb. 19) attend this event for personalized resume reviews, free resume printing (up to five copies) and to take a professional headshot. Register on Handshake.

I Love Mondays: Mac-and-cheese bar

 2–3 p.m.  UMC North Dining Room 
Stop by our mac-and-cheese bar for a snack on your way to class and learn about different campus organizations.

Cycle Power

 7–8 p.m.  Rec Center, Cycle Studio 
Experience your own power as you ride on a bike that goes nowhere. You decide how fast, how powerful and strong you can be. Dig deep to find your power and let it shine! Free to attend and registration is encouraged.    

Billiards tournament

 7–9 p.m.  The Connection 
Show off your skills at an 8-ball or 9-ball billiards tournament at The Connection! Free to enter. Sign-up starts at 6 p.m. at The Connection front desk. Prizes for top finishers!

Days of Gratitude: Pass The Kindness

 11 a.m.–1 p.m.  BOLD Center 
Kindness is contagious! Pass it on by participating in our random acts of kindness challenge. We will also have our gratitude postcards for you to fill out. Our office will mail them for you, anywhere around the world!  

Free Coffee and Conversation

 2–4 p.m.  Museum of Natural History (Henderson), Biolounge
Stop by for free coffee (or tea) plus donuts and some friendly conversation with representatives of CUPD. Bring your questions or come share your concerns and learn more about CU Emergency Alerts, CU's many public safety resources and be sure to vote for your favorite donut shop in Boulder!

DSCC: Rooted in Community

Join the Dennis Small Cultural Center for an afternoon of community and a free plant! Limit of one per person, while supplies last. 

DIY Nights: Pony bead keychains

 5–7 p.m.  Williams Village, North Innovation Station 
Add some flair to your backpack, purse or car keys with a pony bead keychain! Registration in BuffConnect is free and required to participate. All supplies will be provided.

Leadership Luncheon: Building Peer Mentor Relationships

Enjoy lunch, and learn how to build strong peer-peer mentor relationships! Whether you are a mentor or a mentee, or you’re just looking to build connections, all are welcome.  

Media, Communication, and Information Science Career & Internship Fair

 3–5 p.m.  UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom 
Employers will be recruiting for roles in communication, data science, information science, international media, journalism, media production, media studies, sports media and strategic communication. CU Boulder students and alumni from all majors, experience levels and backgrounds are welcome to attend this free event.

Super Smash Bros tournament

 5–10 p.m.  The Connection 
Show off your skills at our Super Smash Bros tournament, hosted by CU Gaming and The Connection! Sign-up starts at 4 p.m. at The Connection front desk. 

Ralphie’s Cooking Basics

 5:15–7 p.m.  Village Center 
Join your fellow students to learn basic cooking techniques and make a meal from scratch! Class taught by a professional chef. All materials provided. Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times in the kitchen. When you arrive, check in with our event planner at the main entrance of the dining hall. Sign-up is required.

Buffs vs. Bears basketball

Cheer on the women's basketball team as they take on the Baylor University Bears at the CU Events Center.

Thursday, Feb. 20

Off-Campus Housing Fair

 10 a.m.–3 p.m.  UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom 
Join Off-Campus Housing & Neighborhood Relations to explore housing options off campus. Dozens of landlords and property managers will be there to talk about hundreds of available properties and rentals. Free pizza provided!

Join your fellow Buffs for Native arts and crafts. This is a casual makerspace to build community and work on projects. We will provide some materials, and you can also bring your own projects to work on.

CU in the Community: Judi’s House

 9 a.m.–2 p.m.  UMC South Terrace 
CU in the Community is a series of one-time, student-led volunteer projects offered each semester in collaboration with local nonprofit organizations. Projects are based on community needs and include various types of service related to social and environmental justice. All students are invited to participate in any and all volunteer projects to gain an understanding of social and environmental issues, engage in direct service, reflect on their impact and learn about continued engagement in communities.
